when stores were closed on Sundays

·

Everything was closed. The grocery store, the hardware store, the mall. Sunday was not a shopping day. It was not an option. If you ran out of milk on Sunday, you waited until Monday.

The only things open were gas stations and maybe a diner. The rest of the world just stopped for a day. It sounds limiting but it was actually kind of peaceful. Nobody could run errands because there were no errands to run.

Families sat on porches. Kids played in yards. People were bored in a way that does not exist anymore. Bored in a good way, where you had to make your own fun because there was literally nothing else to do.
